Grandma Ingrid’s Bienenstich
My grandma makes this recipe all the time. It’s really a favourite once the cold weather comes around. This is the perfect coffee accompaniment during the holidays!
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
300g AP Flour
3 tsp Baking Powder
75g Sugar
Vanilla to taste
salt to taste
125g low fat quark (or smooth cottage cheese)
100ml milk
100ml cooking oil
For the Topping:
150g Butter
Vanilla to taste
2 TBS honey
4 TBS whipping cream
150-200g ground almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake cake for 15-20 minutes until cake is set and appears powdery textured then add topping and bake for 7-10 more minutes until topping has set.
